Tratamiento actual de la enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal

Resumen

Las enfermedades inflamatorias intestinales, incluidas la enfermedad de Crohn y la colitis ulcerosa, son enfermedades crónicas, progresivas e inmunomediadas, que hasta el momento no tienen cura. Pueden causar una morbilidad significativa y dar lugar a complicaciones como estenosis, fístulas, cirugías, infecciones y cáncer. Es una patología heterogénea, con una severidad que varía de leve a grave, y síntomas que van de leves a debilitantes. El diagnóstico temprano y la pronta institución del tratamiento son las piedras angulares para maximizar los resultados y mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes. En la última década, se han aprobado varias terapias nuevas con diferentes mecanismos de acción para el manejo de las enfermedades inflamatorias gastrointestinales.
