Conceptos actuales y abordaje de la hemorragia digestiva de intestino medio

Resumen

La hemorragia digestiva de intestino medio es considerada una patología poco frecuente y representa aproximadamente el 5 a 10% de todas las hemorragias del tracto gastrointestinal. En las últimas décadas, los avances en el estudio del intestino delgado han mejorado considerablemente su  diagnóstico, logrando una tasa de detección de la etiología cercana al 75%. A pesar de estos avances, su presentación clínica, diagnóstico y abordaje terapéutico continúan siendo un desafío en la práctica médica. El éxito en el tratamiento de esta condición depende en gran medida de una evaluación exhaustiva de la historia clínica del paciente, de una sospecha adecuada de las lesiones subyacentes y de la correcta implementación de las herramientas diagnósticas y terapéuticas disponibles en la actualidad. Esta revisión tiene como objetivo abordar las definiciones actuales de hemorragia digestiva del intestino medio, su etiología, así como su enfoque diagnóstico y terapéutico, con el fin de orientar el manejo de esta patología.
