Teduglutida en pacientes adultos con falla intestinal crónica por síndrome de intestino corto: protocolo de manejo con base en recomendaciones de expertos

Resumen

La falla intestinal crónica por síndrome de intestino corto es una patología severa y compleja que requiere un abordaje multidisciplinario especializado. La nutrición parenteral es el soporte fundamental en estos pacientes, aunque, a largo plazo, pueden desarrollarse complicaciones asociadas a esta que contraindiquen su continuidad. En este contexto, el trasplante de intestino aislado o combinado (intestino-hígado) es la última alternativa para recuperar la suficiencia intestinal. A partir del año 2012, se introdujo en el mundo el uso del péptido semisintético de GLP-2, denominado Teduglutida, que cambió el curso y el pronóstico de esta patología. La Argentina es el país de Latinoamérica con mayor experiencia en el uso de esta enterohormona, con resultados comparables a los de otros centros internacionales. Este artículo resume las recomendaciones de expertos para el uso de Teduglutida en pacientes portadores de falla intestinal crónica por síndrome de intestino corto.
