Methodological Limitations of the Article “Risk Factors for Acute Gangrenous Cholecystitis”

We read with interest the article “Risk factors associated with acute gangrenous cholecystitis,” published in your journal (ACTA Gastroenterológica Latinoamericana: volume 54, number 2, 2024), 1 which describes a case-control study identifying platelet counts below 275,000/mm3, fever, and a history of diabetes as risk factors for acute gangrenous cholecystitis. However, after reviewing the study, we believe that there are some inconsistencies in the design and analysis of the data that could affect the validity of the results obtained.
