Abstract

Histoplasmosis is the most frequent endemic systemic mycosis in Argentina. Most cases are asymptomatic or present with mild respiratory manifestations, which resolve spontaneously; however, severe clinical forms may occur when immunity is compromised. Although liver involvement in disseminated infection is well known, focal hepatic histoplasmosis is extremely rare. We present the case of a patient with focal granulomatous hepatitis and peritoneal involvement by Histoplasma capsulatum simulating a primary liver neoplasm, who underwent surgery.
